Thankyou very much for a lovely stay!
Lovely peaceful place, the stars are so beautiful, bright starry nights.
A slice of heaven.
Genie & Alan, Llwynbwch Barn
Wonderfully snug weekend hiding from Storm Ciara.
The cabin was so warm and cosy while the wind howled outside.
We hope to return in the summer to have an outside campfire and bbq.
Bob the cat braved the rain for a cuddle, thanks to Adam and Lou for being so welcoming.
Georgina & John, Derwen
Sitting here in Llwynbwch Barn, it's christmas, and I'm so thankful to be here.
It's 12 years since the first christmas, in 2007, when we inaugurated the barn, after a year of patient, careful conversion work. I lived over the yard, in what is now Adam & Lou's home. So at first, this barn was a place fro therapeutic work and celebrations. Thanks to Lou & Adam's beautiful generousity, we've been given christmas refuge here from our unfinished builders' project.
Reading through this comments book has touched me deeply, as so many have shared finding peace here within these ancient stone walls, calm for the soul amidst a natural world of astonishing variety and richness, in meadows, rivers and trees.
All this is what called me to live here in 1999 - and though I had to leave after thirteen years I know that the guardianship of this place has passed into the best, most generous hands. And that they share this with so many - and that the land also gives of itself so generously - is pure delight.
Sue, Alan & Chris, Llwynbwch Barn
I was one of the first to write in this book, back in August 2013. This is my thirteenth visit to this beautiful barn! This time we've brought a friend from South Africa. We've had a relaxing and happy week hiking, browsing the shops, sitting by the sea and poking the fire in the barn while digging into Welsh cakes.
Loved the peace and quiet and as always the time away from work and stress. This place is tranquility and I never tire of it. I love it more every time I come and I love feeling relaxed and well rested.
I'll be back for another 'fix' in another few months. Happy Christmas to all who stay here, Enjoy! xx
Mandy, Miles & Neil, Llwynbwch Barn
Beautiful place with lovely little details. Very child friendly, big selection of dvds made my daughter very happy. Many thanks for the guitar, it was an amazing surprise for a guitar teacher!
Thankyou for being very helpful and making us feel at home, we'll definitely be back.
Rob, Cecile & Elwyn, Llwynbwch Barn
This has been the perfect tonic to the hustle, bustle & general busyness of the South East!
We have loved the tranquility here - so much gorgeous plant & wildlife with the added bonus of the most awesome mountain bike trails. It certainly has been mountain bike heaven for us! The barn has been a fab base with absolutely everything we could need - including lots of sunshine!
We have loved every minute of our stay - thanks for helping us have a wonderful holiday!
I have no doubt we will return for some more peace and tranquility... and mountain bike fun!
Helen & Jules, Llwynbwch Barn
Thankyou so much for sharing this peaceful haven.
The plan was to escape & 'get away from it all' after what has been a very stressful year. This place has been a tonic to us, we have allowed ourselves to do absolutely nothing other than to immerse ourselves into the beautiful surroundings and to enjoy the peace, the quiet and nature. It's been so theraputic for us. The highlight of the week was waking up to see a deer at the bottom of the garden chomping away at the vegetation!
We've loved watching the birds and seeing the spotted flycatcher feeding its young in the nest in the holes of the barn wall.
The sounds, the smells and the sights were enough to soothe our souls, the beautiful wildflowers in the meadows were a sight to behold...
Sadly it's come to an end, but we'll be back, hopefully with our children & grandchildren, I know they'll love the cabins!
Best wishes to you Adam, Lou & your children and of course Blue!
Rob & Teresa, Llwynbwch Barn
Summer solstice - Blissful as ever.
Thankyou guys, we'll be back as soon as!
Jane & Phil, Llwynbwch Barn
Well, what can I say?
Fabulous place, fabulous people. Sooo quiet and peaceful. Lovely shower, comfy bed, well equipped kitchen. I cannot find anything we didn't like. Thanks to the inclement weather we had to try the woodburner! So cosy, especially the one in the bedroom!
Definitely an area we would come back to.
Thankyou Lou & Adam
Alex & Sue, Llwynbwch Barn
We've had a wonderfully relaxing holiday, just making the most of the glorious weather. We found the house where my mother's family lived nearly 100 years ago in Rhosmaen and spent some time wondering around Llandeilo. Sunday lunch at 'The Plough' in Rhosmaen is amazing, highly recommended.
Lots of walks, lots of birdsong, lots of peace.
What's not to like? We'll be back.
Dave & Marilyn, Llwynbwch Barn
Our second visit to Llwynbwch Barn and just as wonderful as the first.
We leave rested and relaxed with our hearts full of love for Carmarthenshire once again.
Thankyou for a perfect holiday.
Annabel & Gary, Llwynbwch Barn
What another lovely week here at Llwynbwch Barn. The weather has been fantastic all week. Beautiful clear spring days and sunshine all the way!
Great to come here, as usual, and explore some more new places we haven`t already been and also some favourites. Found some new beaches in Pembrokeshire and some lovely country back roads in Carmarthenshire.
Had a great meal at the Red Lion in Llangadog. The shop in Llanwrda is also great and very friendly. Get your meat from Lee Bailys butcher in Llangadog- he's the best.
Hope to see you again in September.
Thanks Lou and Adam, take care.
Michael & Irena, Llwynbwch Barn
We've had the most fantastic time here in the barn, we've visited Carreg Cennen castle, Carmarthen, Laugharne, Tenby, the Iron Age hill fort on our very doorstep & lastly Llyn y Fan Fach. Llandeilo was lovely & if you have a sweet tooth go to Heavenly's Chocolate Emporium, you won't be disappointed!
We've enjoyed the fire every night, here's the true meaning of cwtch!
We'll definitely be coming again, thanks, you have an amazing place.
Becky & Rich, Llwynbwch Barn
It's our last day here and I'm sad!
It's been a restful and peaceful week, and I've loved being here. The solitude and tranquility has been breathtaking. Barrie has love listening to the owls at night. Lucie & Lilie have loved exploring the tangled garden. My favourite part of the holiday has been sitting with my morning coffee every morning, looking out into the garden. It's a beautiful, rustic place. It's been a relaxing retreat. My soul loves this place, happy and grateful.
Sam, Barrie, Lucie & Lilie, Llwynbwch Barn
Thankyou for the lovely stay. The place is amazing. Really wish we could stay longer.
Leela & Dave, Derwen
Thankyou for a wonderful holiday. The barn has exceeded our expectations - it is beautiful and so disabled friendly.
I've been so inspired by your natural environment and garden that I'm going home to create a meadow area in our garden and leave areas to be more natural for nature (not such a neat, groomed garden, I'm usually a neat freak!!)
Thankyou for everything.
Jade & Paul, Llwynbwch Barn
We came back for a second visit and again absolutely loved it. Despite pretty much constant rain, we managed to really relax, revisit Llandeilo (and the wonderful Ginhaus) and cooked up some great food in the cabin.
Thankyou again, no doubt we'll be back!
Tapfuma & Veronika, Hafan
Back for a second time. Lovely, quiet stay in lovely surroundings in a lovely little cosy house.
Sally & Michael, Derwen
Although we were only here for three and a half days, it felt so much longer! So easy to relax and unwind, especially without the distraction of the tv!! The only danger is spending all the time visiting all the beautiful attractions locally and not just having local walks!
During our stay we visited the following and thoroughly enjoyed/ recommend them all:
Dinefwr Castle & Reserve
Colby woodland Garden
Finally, many thanks to Lou for her advice and welcome. We have been treated very kindly everywhere we have been locally, despite our pronunciation of various place names!
Looking forward to a return visit soon!
Debbie, Stephen, Josh & Ollie, Llywnbwch Barn
Thankyou so much. This weekend has been so relaxing. The good kind. I really felt comfortable here. Lovely walks around the fields. I don't do relaxing well - I just can't, but I was able to do it so easily here. I will be recommending Derwen to everyone I meet. I would like to return sometime, maybe when the weather is warmer.
Amazing hosts, couldn't have had nicer people.
Thankyou for a lovely relaxing weekend. Our first family holiday - it was perfect! Both of us and our one year old loved watching all the birds of prey and the rare chance to see them so close in their natural habitat. Lovely walk up the hill, even if we got a bit side-tracked, ended up visiting a couple in their farm and their dog followed us home so we headed back to the farm again!
Thankyou for the bubbles for Chris' birthday - we'll enjoy them in October when we expand to a family of four!
Chris, Mims, Ethan and the bump!, Hafan
What an incredible weekend! Your Hafan cabin is so beautiful!
Thankyou so much for such a lovely visit. It was just the most perfect countryside escape from busy London life. You're a very lucky family to live in such a beautiful and special part of the world. We would love to visit again!
Sami & Joe, Hafan
Thankyou Hafan, you are such a perfect cabin. So well equipped and cosy - we were almost glad of rain so we could light the wood burner! We would recommend Llandeilo, Llansteffan beach, Dinefwr and Lynne Brianne reservoir. Sorry to be going home today but we hope to enjoy a pony ride and train ride on our way back.
Our daughter most enjoyed playing frisbee in the meadow and toasting marshmallows on the campfire. We all enjoyed Bob the cat and Blue the dog's visits.
Thanks Lou, we hope to come back and will definitely recommend your fantastic cabins to others.
Eve, Matt & Nora (4), Hafan
We have had a magical stay at the cabin. Loved exploring the meadow full of butterflies and bees!
We were lucky to have a clear night and were amazed by how many stars we could see.
The cabin was brilliantly well equipped and we enjoyed the regular visits from Bob the cat. We only wish we could stay for longer.
Becca & James, Derwen
Rob's birthday weekend!
Lovely weekend - despite the constant rain!
Snug and cosy in the cabin. Would really recommend the pub, food and atmosphere really friendly.
Thankyou for the birthday bubbly and a restful weekend.
Rob & Pen, Hafan
Thanks for the perfect fall off the grid for a few nights out of the big smoke!
What a treat! Apart from the bush walk in your lovely meadows, yesterday we spent the day at Poppit Sands and it was lovely. My daughter has made friends with your cat.
All round lovely stay.
Jen, Herb & Piper, Hafan
Thankyou for making our stay at Derwen so relaxed and enjoyable. We had a lovely time in your beautiful cabin. It was incredibly peaceful and we loved the outdoor firepit, deck and Charlie/ Bob cat visitor in particular!
Thanks again for extra effort with advice re. mountain bikes & road cycle routes and celebratory birthday prosecco too.
We'd love to come back in the winter. You live in a wonderful place.
Emily & Gary, Derwen
Thanks for a wonderful weekend in a cosy cabin. We loved waking up to birdsong and seeing Bob the cat prowl around outside. And it was great to spend every evening in front of the stove.
We walked up lots of hills this weekend and would recommend starting with the hill you can see from the cabin - loads of beautiful horses on the top. One of our highlights was the caves at Carreg Cennen castle.
The Gower was beautiful even in the rain and we're looking forward to exploring Llyn y Fan Fach tomorrow.
Jessica & Craig, Hafan
We've had a wonderful night dreaming in Derwen cabin... the bed was very comfortable, the fire easy to light and the loo was brilliant! Thankyou.
Hafan was the perfect getaway accommodation for us during the Hay Festival.
With the festival just an hour up the A40 it was totally worth the drive to escape the overrun B & B's and have our own tiny slice of tranquility in the evenings.
We cooked on the campfire, read on the deck and napped under the stars!
Thanks for running such an amazing place to stay, we give you a definite 5 stars!
Simon & Laura, Hafan
I slept wonderfully well and was woken by the rising sun, which was glorious. Your ease and thoughtfulness has made this a very easy place to stay in, and the views are wonderful. I hope everyone who stays here will enjoy it as much as I did. Thankyou.
One of the best Canopy and Stars cabins I've stayed in! The woodland scenery is stunning. We were also greeted by a friendly cat who we named Rick! Loved the bunk bed style and the sofa was really comfy.
Thankyou for an amazing stay.
Danielle & Leonie, Hafan
What an amazing spot!
We had a lovely 3 nights here and were lucky enough to have beautiful weather and clear, cloudless nights - so beautiful to see the stars in all their glory. Recommendations board full of treats: Cefn Sidan beach, Dolaucothi Arms pub, Llandeilo & The Ginhaus. Hafan cabin was great. The kids loved being in the field outside. Makes you realise how little you need to have a great time! Hosts are friendly and welcoming - thanks Adam & Lou!
Anne-Marie, Joe, Cecilia & Patrick, Hafan
Thankyou for a very relaxing stay. The weather was fabulous and we enjoyed the evening light very much.
The stand out sight was Carreg Cennen with its wonderful views and dark, long cave.
Playing with Adam & Lou's children was a highlight for Ava and Orla and Lou's welcome was fantastic!
Orla, Ava, Naomi & Christophe, Llwynbwch Barn
Hafan is a wonderful place for a 'get away from it all' break. The log burner kicks out so much heat which was welcome as evenings are still chilly. Lots of thoughtful little details such as hot water bottles and extra blankets and a very well appointed kitchen. We've loved exploring the local area and meeting people.
We'll definitely be back! Thanks Adam & Lou!
Sarah & Dave, Hafan
Thankyou for a lovely, relaxing week in your beautiful barn. We've loved the peace and quiet and great places to visit nearby, as well as exploring your land.
-Climbing Llyn y Fan Fach - we found snow & had snowball fights!
-Visiting Dinefwr Estate (NT), Llandeilo - good walk to the castle, bog walk and interactive house.
-Going down the amazing caves at Carreg Cennen castle where we also saw twin lambs!
-Exploring the Botanical Gardens and going on the waterfall walk. The butterfly house is great & we loved Wright's Food Emporium
-Walking up the big hill opposite Under Starry Skies, there's good circle route & we met some lovely alpacas!
-Finding the tree house and swing, a short walk from the barn
Elliot & Oscar loved playing with Lou & Adam's children. We hope to come back, maybe in the spring/ summer.
Harriet, Jon, Elliot & Oscar, Llwynbwch Barn
Thankyou so much Adam & Lou, your barn is amazing & we've had such a greta week away. We've enjoyed all the nearby towns and sights, including castles, markets and beaches. Anna's Welsh zoo/ Manor Park was ana amazing day out, will be sure to visit again. We loved our evenings in, watching movies by the fire.
Lovely owners and family made us feel really welcome, we'll definitely be back for another relaxing break, thankyou so much!

The perfect escape and exactly what we needed. Being ‘off grid’ and taking the time to reconnect - nature, self and each other!
Hafan cabin is truly comfortable and has everything you could think of. The woodburner is amazing and kept us warm during cold November nights.
Stargazing was definitely the highlight, but we also loved visiting Llandeilo (the Ginhaus was great), Carreg Cennen castle, the 1920s cinema at Brynamman and a long walks around the fields surrounding Hafan.
Tapfumo & Veronika, Hafan
This was our second stay in Llwynbwch Barn, our first with our four month old son. It’s just as cosy as we remember, with all details thought of.
We’ve enjoyed our visit to Mwnt beach and Cardigan Bay, watching the Red kites at the feeding station and walking around Aberglasney Gardens.
We’ve had some great coffee at the Ginhaus Deli and the Hangout. Llandeilo is just lovely. The barn has been incredible to stay in and we couldn’t have asked for more. We’d love to return again!

Such fun! We seemed to have fitted so much into a small space of time, yet it’s been an extremely relaxed and peaceful weekend.
‘Going on a bear hunt’ - finding our way through fields, along rivers and through kissing gates to the Sexton Arms pub where we found scrummy food and a warm welcome (we recommend the lamb shanks and Welsh faggots!)
A day at beautiful Pembrey Beach
Coming back to Hafan… hanging out in the sun on the deck, playing board games, star gazing and cooking breakfast on the campfire in the morning.

Beauty is everywhere, in and around Llwynbwch Barn. The cottage is furnished with so much love and attention that we felt at home at once. We took lots of walks in the breathtaking surroundings. Discovered Carreg Cennen castle, admired Kites at the feeding station and found a boathouse with a stunning view - the house of a dead poet in Laugharne, Dylan Thomas
Susanne & Sanderijns, the Netherlands, Llwynbwch Barn
Hafan is gorgeous, secluded and perfect for a weekend away from the city. We’ve loved our time here, from cooking burgers on the BBQ, watching & spotting stars and planets and eating fresh eggs to having Bobcat the resident moggy purring round our feet all the time. The recommendations for where to visit were superb, we loved Carreg Cennen castle, Llyn y Fan Fach was beautiful and Llandeilo was great to explore - we loved the Ginhaus.’
Milly & Matt, Hafan
‘Hafan is a very special place. It truly is greater than the sum of its parts… and its ‘parts’ are pretty wonderful!
The sum goes something like this…
A beautiful structure with comfort, great design, lovely details, thought and kindness surrounding it.
Geographic perfection supplying rest, peace, space for thought and exploration. A child’s dream of freedom and an adult’s joy at familial happiness and harmony!
A huge dose of fresh air, wildlife, elemental challenges and a sense of natural pace and rhythm
the opportunity to be the parent I don’t always get to be and two VERY happy children!! What more could you ask for? Thank you for a brilliant stay
